There are several ways to treat spasms and their associated pain that, when used as preventive treatments, can help reduce their onset. Gentle stretching exercises, which you can do at home, help keep muscles flexible and increase the blood flow that promotes healing. Muscle pain can be relieved with a regular massage and hot compressions. Keeping your muscles warm is another good idea, especially because cold can be a source of colic and can cause muscle spasms.
